10 clever ways to reuse toilet paper rolls
Every household creates trash, whether you aren’t that preoccupied with your garbage or are trying to live a zero waste lifestyle. One thing we can all agree on is that less trash is better, for ourselves and the environment. But some trash is just hard to avoid. To put this trash to good use, I will share tips to reuse this trash in a lot of different ways in and around the house. Glass jars, plastic bottles, veggie scraps, old jeans; everything can be used again if you look at it in a different way. Today I will share 10 clever ways to reuse toilet paper rolls.
#1 Seed Starters
Empty toilet paper rolls make excellent seed starters. Just make some cuts in the bottom, fold it and you have a simple pot you can fill up with soil and seeds. When the seeds begin to sprout, you can put the small plants in the garden. The rolls are biodegradable, so you can even do this with the rolls.
#2 Desk Organizer
I don’t know about you, but I used to get quite creative with empty toilet paper rolls when I was a kid. My favorite craft was making desk organizers with them. We probably forgot about this growing up, but it can still come in quite handy when organizing all those pens, markers, rulers and tiny supplies. And it’s a great craft to do with kids!
#3 Wrapping Paper Holder
Don’t you just hate it when your rolls of wrapping paper start unraveling when you use them once? Toilet paper rolls come to the rescue! Just cut one roll open, fold it around the wrapping paper and it will hold nicely from now on.
#4 Crafting Material for Kids
Kids have a great imagination and they can make something out of practically nothing. That is why simple materials, like toilet paper rolls, offer such great fun. You can make anything you want out of it: cute paper animals, necklaces or a long snake. Just check Pinterest to get inspired.
#5 Gift Packages
You probably haven’t seen this before, but you can make excellent gift packages from something as simple as a toilet paper roll. Just fold the sides, give it a nice wrap and a ribbon and you’re good to go. You can find a great tutorial on Instructables.
#6 Cable Storage
Don’t you just hate it when all the cables that you have get tangled up and you can’t find a good way to store them properly? With something as simple as a toilet paper roll, you can store all the cables safely without them getting tangled up and you can even write down what that particular cable is for. I am a big fan: it took some work, but it looks much better now and we can actually find what we want now.
#7 Wall Art
It might sound a bit strange, but with some imagination and creativity, you can make beautiful wall art from something as simple as toilet paper rolls. Just take a look at Architecture Art Design to get inspired!
Another great way to get creative with toilet paper rolls with kids is by making stamps out of them. You can fold a toilet paper roll in a lot of different shapes and by dipping it into paint, you can make beautiful patterns and stamps.

A bunch of empty rolls can make a great marble run for kids. Just tape the rolls to the wall or door, make them, more or less, form a track and it will guarantee hours of fun!

Empty toilet paper rolls make great and simple bird feeders. Just roll the rolls in some peanut butter and seeds and hang them in the garden. It might not be the best bird feeder ever, but it is a very cheap solution, does the job and it’s a great project to do with kids.
